Young Members

If you have a son or daughter who would like to join the fun -  beavers scouts 6-8yrs, cub scouts 8-10½yrs, scouts 10½-13½yrs or Explorers 13½-18yrs please contact District Membership Enquiries.

We are always looking for volunteers both young and old from 16 – 106 years old.

Young Leaders:  At 16 you can become a Young Leader Explorer Scout where you help with a section and be involved in the many activities scouting offers.  As a Young Leader our training will provide you with the skills required to assist in a section.  Many Young Leaders are working towards their duke of Edinburgh awards.

Adult Volunteers who can give a few hours a month

Uniform side -If you fancy helping out in a section for just a few hours a month – you will need to complete a DBS form  and must enjoy working with children and seeing them achieve.  No special skills required as we believe in learning by doing although any skills you may have would be useful.  Click here for more information.

Non- uniform side – Many groups would be happy to have help with jobs like admin, preparing posters, keeping CRB records, advertising, help paint an HQ, fundraising ideas, making refreshments once or twice a year or applying for grants, encourage parents to get involved.  Perhaps you have a special interest/hobby  that the young people would like to hear about and if appropriate share with them.  Either get in touch with your child’s leader or contact the DC

Or a more regular commitment

Uniform – if you wish to become a leader and wear our uniform, make the promise and learn the tricks of the trade – we can give you all the training you need or top up what on skills you already have

Currently we are looking for :

Group Scout Leaders –  Although some scouting background would be beneficial managing people is the most important aspect of this role.  Ensuring every member enjoys the fun and excitement that scouting can offer but at the same time the individual achieves and widens his skills and understanding of local, national and international issues.  There is formal training to be undertaken, DBS ( the new CRB) completed and the time required varies with groups. Could you do this?  Then find out more by (Link to GSL role) and contact details.

Sections Leaders   -  A section leader needs to give a regular commitment which could mean anything from weekly to once a month or six weeks regularly and there will be formal training to be undertaken.  As you will be working with the young members you will require DBS (wasCRB)  clearance.  You will get involved in the planning of programmes and there will be times that events happen outside the weekly meetings at weekends and in evenings.

Admin Asisstant – We are currently looking for someone to help with computer admin.  This requires a few hours a month although there are odd times in the year when this hours would be greater.

If you have been involved in the past and would like to get back involved but to a lesser extent please contact us by email  and we can discuss how you can be involved.

We are flexible and are happy to make your commitment worthwhile

and our young members will benefit as a result.

Make that commitment and make a difference
